The year 2020 came and went by so soon, leaving global economic distress. As the novel coronavirus continues to spread even in the new year, economies are now tasked with one major concern – how to build back stronger.

It is against this backdrop that Fortinet together with her partner Redington has signed a sponsorship deal towards #TheYearAhead as shall be hosted by CIO East Africa on fourth February 2021, to innovate into a comeback plan for the businesses adversely affected by the pandemic among other aspects of economic recovery.

Themed: Building a more Resilient Digital Future, the virtual event will host renowned speakers like Dr. Kate Getao, CEO ICT Authority, Imran Chaudhrey, Country Manager at Fortinet East Africa, Peter Kahiigi, Cybersecurity Specialist, Global Cybersecurity Capacity Center, University of Oxford, and Anatole Gahongayire, IT Security Manager, RISA among others.

The CIO Year Ahead Conference will bring together ‘C’-level technology thinkers comprising: CIOs, CTOs, CFOs, CMOs, IT Directors, and Senior IT Executives across East Africa region.

The delegates will in overall focus on how to deploy innovative technologies that add value to the enterprise ecosystem and further break barriers of distrust in systems that hinder development and service delivery, especially after the paralysing effects of covid-19.

Following the realities that have been witnessed since the hard-hitting pandemic, there is no doubt a hastened need for re-envisaging and re-inventing their operations to offer valuable customer experience, acquisition and retention.

Like the Secretary-General for UN, António Guterres, said, “Unless the world acts now, the COVID-19 pandemic and accompanying global recession, will trigger “years of depressed and disrupted economic growth.”
