Internet and connectivity in Africa has evolved over many years with SEACOM having brought Africa its first high speed internet direct connectivity, what opened up the continent to the technological advancements most of which are enjoyed hitherto.
Today, Africa just got better after Microsoft’s recent launch of datacenters in South Africa’s Cape Town and Johannesburg, being the first ever in the entire content and SEACOM partnering with Microsoft to deliver direct and high speed connectivity for to the datacenters from Kenya.
Commenting on this offering, Tony Tugee the Managing Director for Seacom said, “The SEACOM subsea cable connecting Kenya to South Africa offers a fibre express route that carries Terabytes of capacity with speeds offered to business customers from as low as 50mbps up to 10Gbps.”
SEACOM recently acquired Fiberco’s network allowing it to extend this capability across South Africa and into the major datacenters, where cloud providers like Microsoft have presence.”
Microsoft’s recent launch of datacenters in South Africa makes it the sole vendor of cloud services in the continent what the Country Manager, Sebuh Haileleul said aims to give customers better and greater experience together with the agility, speed and cost effectiveness while leveraging on the cloud.
