Ruth Zaipuna has been appointed the new CEO at NMB Bank, Tanzania after serving at an acting capacity since October 2019.
She started her career in 2002 at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where for a decade she specialised in the audit of banks and other financial institutions. She later took up the position of Executive Director, Finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Standard Chartered Bank in 2011. 2017, Ruth took on additional responsibilities combining her role in Tanzania with that of Business Finance Lead for the East African cluster, overseeing and leading the Bank’s business finance activities in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.
In a statement from the Bank, the Chairman of the Board, Dr EDwin Mhede, notes that Zaipuni has made a significant contribution to the overall leadership of the bank.
“Ruth has been instrumental during the transition period of NMB. Now with full responsibility to lead the bank, she must drive a strong performance agenda and a sustainable delivery of NMB’s strategic agenda,” said Dr Mhede.
Ruth is an Associate Certified Public Accountant (ACPA (T)), she holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance and a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree in Accounting, both from the University of Dar es Salaam.
