The first ever insurance and technology forum curated by CIO East Africa in partnership with ZepRe has kicked off in the nairobi Serena hotel, commencing with an interactive exclusive CEO Breakfast Roundtable.
The forum themed to ‘Connect the Digital Future of Insurance Today’, brought together insurance and technology professionals who together deliberated on the ‘HOWS’ and ‘WHATS’ that are direly neede to disrupt the insurance experience in the region.
“Welcome to the first-ever insuretech forum aimed to integrate technology into insurance for the betterment of the industry,” said Hope Murera, CEO ZEPRE who officiated the forum at the Serena Hotel.
Some of the major impediments to the adoption of technology into the industry as enlisted during the first session of the forum include; lack of funds to innovate, a conservative module of operation and the lack of the urge to urgently embrace change.
Harry Hare, the Chairman and Publisher of CIO East Africa Magazine noted that although the industry has tones of very useful data, it fails to use such appropriately to better service delivery.
Dr. Kipngetich Julius, the Regional CEO for Jubilee Holdings who attended the forum avered; “Insurers cannot talk about data without mentioning Blockchain and AI. The industry needs these technologies to disrupt their operation models and reframe the industry.”
The forum aligns both plenary and panel discussions lined through the day to explore all the potential technologies to disrupt the industry lest its death as one of the CEOs noted during the first session.
