Jumia, Nas Servair Partner To Provide Low Cost Meals In Africa

Jumia Food has partnered with Africa’s largest airline caterers, NAS Servair, to provide healthy and affordable meals to consumers in Nairobi for as low as Kshs 200 including delivery fee under the new Bei Poa kitchen initiative.

“We are excited to launch Bei Poa Kitchen with our partner Nas Servair which will provide low-cost online meals to consumers with the aim of bringing affordable convenience to the masses. Home food delivery from restaurants is growing fast, as more consumers are choosing to order from home or the office and want to avoid crowds,” said Shreenal Ruparelia, Jumia Food Chief Commercial Officer adding that mass-catering and relevant affordable choices, will make Jumia Food an everyday service for millions of Kenyans over time.

Consumers wishing to order their meals from Bei Poa kitchen on Jumia Food will have to pre-order before 6 PM and get it delivered at lunchtime the next day.

“Jumia is the leading e-commerce leader in Africa while Nas Servair is top airline caterer in Africa, and this partnership is a major gateway to providing world-class-local Kenyan meals to consumers in an affordable and safe way,” said Stephane Lopez, Nas Servair General Manager.

A Jumia Food Index report released last year showed that Kenyans spent Kshs 2,000 on average for a meal on Jumia Food, while the least expensive meals cost as low as Kshs 200.

Nairobi is the leading city across Africa for online food delivery, followed by Casablanca (Morocco), Lagos (Nigeria) Kampala (Uganda), and Abidjan (Ivory Coast). Kenya also leads the pack in mobile internet penetration, showing the tendency of Kenyans to browse via their smartphones and apps above the desktop. Urban, young, and tech-savvy people between 25 and 34 are the largest segment of consumers.

Jumia Food is present in Nairobi, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu and Mombasa, and partners with close to 1,000 restaurants across Kenya
