Bob Collymore, Safaricom Chief Executive Officer has returned to work after an average nine months of medical leave.
The Safaricom chief executive broke the news via his Twitter handle on today. He has been away seeking medical treatment in London, United Kingdom.
“I’m back. Thanks to everyone who supported me over the past 9 months especially the clinical team at @UCLH, my superb @SafaricomPLC team and of course my wife @WambuiKamiru,” he tweeted.
While taking leave on medical grounds last October, a statement from Safaricom indicated that Colloymore would be away from the company for an unspecified time.
“Safaricom today) announces that its CEO Bob Collymore, has started medical leave to receive specialised treatment for a number of months. During Colloymore’s formal absentia, Sateesh Kamath, the current Chief Financial Officer for Safaricom who is also Mr. Collymore’s alternate on the Board, will take a primary role and Joseph Ogutu, current Director, Strategy and Innovation at the company, were in-charge of the day-to-day operations.
