The Stakeholders Forum on the draft Kenya Communications Regulations 2009 has been deferred to November 24-25. According to a press release from the commission, the move is due to unavoidable circumstances.

The Forum was initially scheduled to be held on November 18-19 at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies. The postponement gives stakeholders more time to study the draft regulations in readiness for the consultative forum.

The 14 sets of the regulations are available at http://www.cck.go.ke/current_consultations/

Comments received to date on the draft regulations are available at http://www.cck.go.ke/published_responses/

The 14 sets of regulations touch on various aspects of the ICT sector, including broadcasting, e-transaction, compliance monitoring and enforcement, postal services, fair competition and universal access. Consumer protection, numbering, type approval, licensing and tariffs are other areas covered by the new regulations.
