Polymerized Chemical Toner may sound like the next head-to-head battle in Congress over environmental pollution, but it's actually the technology in Samsung's upcoming line of laser printers offering high-quality 2400x600 dpi printing. Samsung is releasing two models in mid-January: the printer-only CLP-325W, and themultifunction CLW3185FW. Both offer small footprints in a black cube that is perhaps reminiscent of the NeXT computer, with the printer-only model coming in a bit smaller and thinner. Black-and-white printing hums along at 16 or 17 pages per minute; color is at four ppm. Wifi networking, quiet operation, and energy-saving features are standard in both models. The printer-only model will be priced at $199, with its multifunction cousin coming in at $399. That might be a good price for polymerized chemicals, but it's hard to tell, as that phrase is about as specific as marketing your white bread as produced using Endothermic Infrared Radiation Transfer.
