Mutually beneficial relationships

GSM is a popular mobile telephony standard in the world and according to Huawei, it invested substantially in its GSM solutions. The company successfully set the 2G network data rate record of 564Kbps with its EDGE+ technology to bring high-bandwidth 3G experiences to 2G users over GSM networks.

Huawei claims its GSM solution has been adopted by nearly every mainstream GSM operator around the world.

Commenting on the achievement, Wan Biao, president of Wireless Networks, Huawei said this milestone was reached due to the close and mutually beneficial relationships the company has with its customers.

"MTN's subscriber base, among which GSM users are predominant, has grown annually by 25 per cent, demonstrating that GSM remains the best choice to satisfy voice service demand for mobile users. We hope our partnership with forward-looking operators like MTN will lead to another billion users."
