WebAxn Solution Recognized as the Most Innovative Product

Comviva, the global leader in providing mobile solutions beyond VAS, today announced that it has been honored with the prestigious ‘Golden Peacock Innovative Product Award 2011’ for its ingenious effort towards democratizing internet access through its WebAxn solution. Comviva’s WebAxn allows operators to tap into the growing mobile internet market by enabling simple and rapid access to contextual and relevant web applications – using both feature phones and smartphones. This is relevant for the underpenetrated rural and semi-urban markets, where the bulk of customers own feature phone handsets. This is the seventh consecutive Golden Peacock award that Comviva has received for its innovative contributions. In the past, Comviva has won the award for a range of solutions, including Mobile Internet Gateway, mobiquity™ mobile financial services platform and AVAN, its voice applications platform.

Accepting the award, Arun Tanksali, VP Mobile Lifestyle Solutions, Comviva said, “Our goal is to introduce innovations that empower mobile operators to meet the evolving needs of their customers. It is this principle that inspired WebAxn – an application that enables mobile users with even basic feature phones to quickly and easily gain access to Internet applications and content. We are honoured to receive the Golden Peacock Award for our innovation.”

Given the increased penetration of mobile services in rural and semi-rural areas, coupled with greater awareness of the Internet, it is expected that demand for Internet access will grow rapidly. Comviva’s WebAxn enables operators to provide one click access to a range of Internet applications and content on feature hones and smartphones.

The Golden Peacock Innovation Award is an annual award, which was introduced by India’s Institute of Directors in 1991. The awards are considered the greatest recognition of corporate excellence in areas of innovation, quality, training, governance, environment management and corporate social responsibility.
