Zain Kenya experiences network outage Dennis Mbuvi

August 06, 2010 0 Comments

Zain Kenya subscribers were on Thursday afternoon unable to make and receive calls on the network. The service disruption began at around 4:00 p.m. local time and was reported around the Nairobi region. CIO East Africa was  not able to confirm whether the disruption affected those outside Nairobi . By 5:00 pm, most subscribers reported that service had been restored.
CIO East Africa requested for an official statement on the outage from Zain and had not received it by the time of going to press.

Network outages have been occasional on Safaricom, Zain's competitor a while back and this was attributed to network upgrade problems and fibre cuts to core network equipment. Zain's outage comes against the background of a recent International Telecommunication Union (ITU) workshop held in Nairobi and meant to deliberate on the provision of good quality telecommunication service.
