UUNET Kenya to launch Mobile Office solution Zachary Ochieng
UUNET Kenya is gearing up to offer a mobile to fixed convergence solution to enhance its customer communication experience. The leading business communication solutions provider, which offers business solutions to corporations says the new solution will direct communication from a fixed phone to a mobile phone or vice versa, enabling its over 700 top tier clients to be in touch at all times.“If I call you on your fixed line and you are not there, the solution will re-direct me to where you are, in this case your mobile line,” said Tom Omariba, UUNET Kenya Managing Director.
Omariba said they are already in discussions with their principal partner MTN Business, even as UUNET Kenya engineers are already testing the requisite equipment to facilitate the service.
The convergence will enable UUNET customers to do virtually anything that can be done in the office while on the move, including handling of faxes and even telephone calls.
“If it is a fax you are receiving and are not in the office, the solution will redirect the fax to your smart phone without you knowing. In turn, you will be able to respond to the fax from your smartphone, with the responses being received in the office as a fax,” said Omariba.
However, the solution will require UUNET Kenya to work with a GSM povider that has a 3G licence, or expand their Beyond Broadband WiMAX solution which is currently available in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu and other key towns countrywide .
