Telkom Kenya’s Orange and Research In Motion (RIM) have launched their BlackBerry solution in Kenya. The BlackBerry solution incorporates smartphones, software and services to allow wireless access to email, phone, calendar, web, multimedia and other business and lifestyle applications. “We are delighted to bring the BlackBerry solution to our valued customers in Kenya. With our network capabilities and widespread broadband coverage, Orange mobile customers in Kenya will now be able to experience the full benefits of the BlackBerry solution” said Mickael Ghossein, CEO Telkom Kenya.

Mark Guibert, Vice President of Corporate Marketing at RIM added that “It is with great pleasure that RIM has worked with Orange to introduce the BlackBerry solution in Kenya. BlackBerry smartphones are the right choice for those who want to stay connected to colleagues, friends and family, as well as have full access to a growing range of business and personal information, while on the move.”

This launch adds to similar BlackBerry offerings from Zain and Safaricom. At launch, Orange will be offering subscribers the BlackBerry Bold, the first BlackBerry to support tri-band HSDPA as well as BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server software integrates with IBM Lotus Domino, Microsoft Exchange and Novell GroupWise and uses advanced encryption and IT policy controls to enable secure, push-based wireless access to email and other corporate data.
