Kenya’s Seven Seas Technologies has scooped this year’s VMware Africa Channel Partner of the Year award in recognition of the firm’s cloud computing market development efforts in the East Africa region.

Globally, VMware is reputed as a computer virtualisation and cloud computing solutions provider serving global enterprises.

Speaking after receiving a communiqué confirming the award, Seven Seas Technologies (SST) founder and CEO Mr. Michael Macharia said the award was a welcome affirmation for the firms growing excellence in the continent.

“This award puts Kenya at a very high pedestal in the cloud computing scene in Africa and the world at large as Seven Seas Technologies competes against global names in this market.”

Alongside SST, hardware vendor Dell South Africa received the highest revenue contributor of the year award for 2010 while HP was crowned original equipment manufacturer partner of the year

Secure ICT solutions provider, Datacentrix South Africa was named the OEM reseller of the year.

By offering customers the freedom of open standards and interoperability of applications, VMware offers the best choice for organizations looking to expand IT capacity or migrate applications to the public cloud. A common management and infrastructure platform ensures visibility of pooled resources along with the elasticity to provide the highest service-levels for applications.

Through VMware’s broad ecosystem of leading cloud service providers, organizations can get VMware Virtualized™ services ranging from on-demand, pay-as-you go infrastructure to enterprise-class, production-ready offerings.

Instead of spending valuable time managing physical infrastructure or applications, this new approach lets you focus on innovation and delivering value to the business. Once all hardware resources are pooled into virtual building-blocks and service-levels are defined with associated applications, an automation plan based upon business rules and application needs can be deployed.
