Samsung tops the sales charts in Kenyan TV market CIO Staff Writer
Samsung Electronics reached another milestone when it took the dominant position in TV sales according to GFK Aug 2010 data. In LCD sales Samsung almost doubles its nearest competitor’s figures both in terms of sales value and units. The results for Plasma TV sales are even more impressive with Samsung dominating 70% of the market share. In CRT sales Samsung is also the preferred brand with 41% and 48% share in units and Value respectively. (A total of 9% and 15% higher than the closest competitor). Samsung’s market dominance begun in June this year for Plasma and CRT TV’s. It has claimed the leadership for LCD since 2009.In June 2010 Samsung unveiled the world 1st 3D led TV in Kenya which Proved to be a popular attraction for the Kenyan consumers who turned out in large numbers to see this spectacular piece of innovation. The 3DTV was on sale and display in major retail outlets including Nakumatt Westgate , Tuskys T-mall.
The new Samsung LED C8000 is the world’s largest Full HD 3D LED TV available, boasting an ultra-slim 65-inch screen. Featuring Samsung’s exclusive 3D Hyper Real engine control for color, contrast and motion, the C680 and C490 also deliver optimal picture quality with vivid 3D stereo images on 50-inch screen. The C680, in particular, allows consumers to share content from other DLNA certified devices on the TV via AllShare, creating a personalized content experience with countless options.
Samsung’s sleek, new 3D Blu-ray Home Theater System, the HT-C9950W, creates a new dimension in home cinema with jaw-dropping, life-like performance and a sophisticated design. Featuring a modern metallic finish, it is the perfect complement for the award-winning LED 9000 series TV. The HT-C9950W features touch control buttons, a premium volume wheel and slot-in disc loading.
