Orange revamps its offer for prepaid customers CIO Staff Writer
Integrated telecommunications services provider Orange will reward its customers through their newly launched promotion ‘Usinyamaze Revamped’ that will see Orange Mobile customers make calls at KSh. 1.00 per minute to other Orange subscribers , from 5.00pm to 10.00am every day.
This move comes barely months after the latest CCK quarterly report confirmed an 85% increase in the network’s subscriber base as at December 2010.
The new rates compliment the already popular Usinyamaze Tariff that allows Orange customers to make calls from 10.00am to 5.00pm for free, everyday, when calling within Orange Mobile, Orange Wireless (CDMA), and Landline customers.
For as little as KSh 100 on their account, pre paid customers on Orange Mobile will enjoy unlimited calls from 10 am to 5 pm, making an average rate of KSh 3.30 per day. This offer will be valid for 30 days from the day of subscription and is to cut across the organisation’s three networks: Orange Mobile, Orange Wireless (CDMA) and the fixed line network.
“Our unique offers have continuously set us apart from the competition, with the ongoing network upgrade and increased customer focus, we are confident that we will continue growing the subscriber base in the coming months” said the Telkom Kenya CEO, Mr. Michael Ghossein, confirming the one month-long promotion.
Ghossein said the revision of the calling rates was consistent with the pledge to make communications services affordable, which Orange made to Kenyans three years ago.
Customers will only need to have airtime of KSh. 100.00 on their phone to subscribe to the new rates that will continue to offer them free calls between 10.00am and 5.00pm and on – net calls at KSh. 1.00 per minute, thereafter.
“These unlimited talking hours are more so targeted towards every day business communication, this will be the only network in Kenya that allows for free calls to a fixed line network.” said Mr. Ghossein.
Meanwhile, loyal Orange customers will be rewarded for having stayed with the network for a period of time. The bonus which is part of the Ziada loyalty programme will be awarded based on a cummulative percentage of the airtime they top-up their lines with.
“Those who have been on the network for up to six months will be given a 10% bonus when they top up their lines, while those who have been on the network for 18 months and above will enjoy a bonus of 30%,” Ghossein explained.
The CEO added that they will also be rewarding their customers for the amount of money they use every month. The bonus based on use will be redeemable at the beginning of every month and will be extended at the first recharge of every new month.
