Integrated telecommunications provider Telkom Kenya has launched an expansion programme for its distribution network across the country. The programme launched this morning is aimed at making Orange services and products easily accessible to Kenyans.
“Our aim is to ensure that existing and potential subscribers can access the unrivalled services that Orange offers, around the country at a location convenient to them in an environment that is answering with their evolving lifestyles”, said Telkom Kenya Managing Director Mikhael Ghossein.

While opening a new customer service centre at the Sarit in Nairobi’s Westlands, which will bring the total number of Orange Customer Centres to 13, Ghossein said the company was planning to launch its 3G services in the fourth quarter of the year and later 4G services later in the year. He asked the Communications Commission of Kenya to consult with service providers when coming up with regulations for the issuance of the 4G licence. Speaking during the launch, Information and Communications Permanent Secretary Bitange Ndemo said the government will continue creating an enabling environment that will support the growth of the mobile telephone business.

“As you are aware the government is currently reviewing the Fair Competition and Equality of Treatment Regulations introduced earlier in the year, aimed at providing a level playing ground for all operators in this market. The rules are currently being reviewed, ahead of their implementation” announced”, Ndemo.

Ghossein added that they were planning to open a similar centre at the T-Mall Plaza at the junction of Mbagathi Way and Langata Road towards the end of the year and at the Westgate mall in Westlands, with other locations across the country to enhance the distribution network.
