With the battles among Telecoms providers in Uganda intensifying, Orange has come up with a new service aimed at further maintaining its data service provision stronghold. This service is an Email SMS service that enables any Orange subscriber to send and receive email from any sms enabled phone without it having to be a smart phone.
All a user needs to do is undertake a simple subscription procedure by texting an assigned number and then submitting their relevant details for email access. Once successful, the phone will then start receiving emails sent to that users’ registered email address.
With this service supporting low end handsets, it is likely to drive mobile phone data usage beyond the currently confined boundaries.
