MTN Business today celebrates its first anniversary since it rebranded from UUNET. And to mark this major milestone, the company announced the introduction and availability of their new Video Conferencing service in Kenya.

Speaking during the ceremony, MTN Business Kenya Managing Director, Tom Omariba expressed pride in the company, for launching one of the most successful products in the country – video conferencing.

For that past one year the company has deployed numerous managed IP PBX telephony services in Kenya apart from their traditional focus of offering businesses with reliable internet connectivity. With an ever growing clientele and user sophistication, the company continues to respond to customer needs and requirements by introducing new products and services and improving existing ones.

“While launching this service, our main aim is to create a saving avenue for clients across the country.  So far, clients have benefited immensely from this service, for they have reduced travelling expenses and also individual time,” said Omariba.

One of the advantages of having video conferencing is it makes communicating at a distance as natural as being in the same room. The hardware used for this technology has continued to improve in quality, and prices have dropped drastically.

He also added that IT firms across the country have positively adopted this service, considering that it is a cheap way of conducting business.

Videoconferencing has evolved since its inception as two televisions and cameras connected by a wire from one place to another.

The miniaturization and improvement of existing technologies has led to replacing large televisions and old appliances with wide-screen LCD high-definition and high-tech micro-cameras with better video compression and faster connections to the Internet.
