LG holds training for air conditioning engineers CIO East Africa Writer

LG Air conditioning Academy has just ended a four days training for 16 Engineers from across Middle East and Africa to upgrade their skills and competence in the designs, testing and commissioning of air conditioning systems.
Addressing the Engineers during the closing of the training sessions in Nairobi, Woo Won Na, the Managing Director of LG Electronics, East and Central Africa said the training is meant to impact necessary skills and knowledge to engineers to help them serve customers with quality service and dedication. "Heating and cooling technology is developing fast and as a result it is vital that the industry stays up-to-date with the latest developments. That is why we developed the LG Air Conditioning Academy to promote and develop the skills that the air conditioner, heating and plumbing industries need to stay ahead of the game," he said.

S.Y. Bae, General Manager, LG Air Conditioners Division, East and Central Africa emphasized the need for training the engineers to help them boost their confidence and establish long term mutually beneficial arrangement with our customers.

Glenn Shim, Africa business Support Department, said it was critical to integrate after- sales service with before sale services which include training that is equally important in maintaining customers' loyalty.

Opened early this year, the LG Air Conditioning Academy in Nairobi is a facility, the first of its kind in the region , that presents a structured channel for imparting advanced knowledge and new expertise in installation and maintenance of Air Conditioning System.

The LG Air Conditioning Academy enrols engineers, air conditioning installers, developers, owners, investors and Air Conditioning Salesmen.Courses offered at the academy take between three to seven days depending on the subject of the training. The Academy admits trainees from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and other parts of Africa.

Currently, the LG AC Academy has partnered with the University of Nairobi, Mechanical Engineering department to provide opportunity for the University's students in this department to practice on actual LG samples.

LG has established more than sixty similar Academies around the world providing innovative, design oriented and round the clock technology for air conditioning professionals.

At the same time LG launched its breakthrough air conditioner, the Multi-V III, the newest Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) solution which is part of the company's plan to secure US$ 10 billion in global sales through its air conditioning, LED (Light Emitting Diode) Lighting and solar power by 2014.

The Multi-V III boasts three key consumer benefits including higher imagery efficiency, bigger capacity and larger piping design.
