Inmobi offers incentives to Kenyan mobile developers Dennis Mbuvi

Inmobi will be funding a mobile application testing lab at the mLab East Africa. This was announced Monday evening by a team led by Isis Nyongo - Inmobi Africa Vice President,  Joel Rao - Inmobi Account Manager and Jisas Lema - Inmobi Developer Relations, at the iHub during this month's Mobile Monday Nairobi. Mobile Monday is a monthly meet up held since 2000 in more than 100 cities around the world. The event brings together developers and other stakeholders in the mobile industry to discuss various opportunities within the industry.Inmobi also announced that they would be offering Kenyan mobile developers 70% of revenue from adverts served in their applications.  This is against the 60 per cent normally offered.  Inmobi serves over 40 billion ads globally on mobile devices with 5 billion of those in Africa. South Africa serves 1 in 5 mobile ads in Africa. Ushahidi also demonstrated two mobile applications at the event; their iOS app and SMSSync. SMSync is an SMS gateway thar works off smart phones, allowing them to receive and send SMS to multiple sources. The application can be used to consolidate reports for the Ushahidi crowd sourcing application.  Ushahidi has been used mostly in times of disaster such as the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami to report incidences from the ground. Other uses include during the Egyptian revolution and tracking medicine stock outs in Kenya.

Akirachix also announced that they were accepting submissions for AppCircus which they would be hosting on August 31st at the iHub. 10 developers will pitch their applications to a panel of experts.  The top application will get a nomination to the Mobile Premier Awards 2012 to be held at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
