Farmer bags KSh5m in Safaricom promotion CIO Staff Writer

A small scale farmer from Shinyalu in Kakamega in Western Kenya is the latest KSh 5million winner in the ongoing Masonko na Safaricom consumer promotion.Mrs Margaret Mutambi Seta becomes the eighth Sh5 million winner in the consumer promotion that has elicited a lot of excitement among Safaricom customers across the country.Safaricom Chief Financial Officer, Mr Chris Tiffin, presented her with the KSh5 million cheque at a ceremony held at the Safaricom Headquarters in Nairobi. Also rewarded were seven other winners of the daily Sh1 million.
The seven, included Abdirahman Hassan Guled, a Nairobi-based businessman, Anrita V Patel, business lady from Mombasa, Duncan Mwariri Mwaura, a businessman based at Nyamakima in Nairobi and Emilycar Nekesa, a cloth vendor from Nakuru.

Other winners included John Njoroge, a self employed accountant from Nairobi, Maurice Ombewa, a groceries seller from Kisumu and Advanced Innovations Limited, a business entity based in Nairobi. At the presentation ceremony, Mr Tiffin said Safaricom was proud to contribute towards development in Kenyan communities by rewarding its esteemed customers.

He called on the company’s over 16 million subscribers to continue participating in the promotion as it ensured equal chances for all.
“Safaricom will continue rewarding its loyal customers through ways that positively transform their lives both socially and economically. We are keen on improving the lives of ordinary Kenyans in ways never seen before.” said Mr. Tiffin.
Safaricom has so far received a total of 1,006,109,401 entries into the promotion from over 13,376,271 PrePay and 84,001 PostPay subscribers since the launch on October 24, 2010. Masonko na Safaricom, the biggest consumer promotion in Kenya, aims at rewarding Safaricom’s over 16 million Safaricom subscribers as the company celebrates its 10th anniversary this month.

The promotion runs till December 2 with both PrePay and PostPay customers eligible to win the daily amounts and weekly prizes of Sh5 million.
Masonko na Safaricom will climax in a Grand Draw whose winner will walk away with a staggering Sh25 million.

Safaricom PrePay customers qualify for one entry for every top-up of Sh10, meaning the more one tops up their air-time, the more their chances of winning. For Safaricom PostPay subscribers, the currency for one entry is air-time usage worth Sh10.
