Are you a game addict! Nairobi Innovation Hub (I-hub) is hosting the World Cyber Games National finals which are to be held tomorrow the 7th of August, 2010 at their head quarter Bishop Magua Gardens Ngong road, opposite Uchumi Ngong Hyper. This is an event takes place all over the world and attracts gamers to showcase their skills.
Named as one of the growing technologist space hub in Kenya, I-hub will provide an environment for not only gamers but also various technologists, and innovators to meet and share ideas on how well they can improve the ICT level in Kenya. A Kenyan local game developer, Wesley Kiriinya will be in the house to display his game, an achievement of the game development foundation among Kenyan software developers.
The event will major in three genres of games, first, there will be the strategy game, this is starcraft-Broodwar where opponents will have to build a base and use their powers and weaponry to destroy the enemy base. The second of this genre, FiFa 2010 involves the moving and control of the ball to acquire goals against the opponent for a specified period of time, just like in a real soccer match. Starcraft and FiFa will be played on a personal computer platform while Tekken 6 which is a fighting game, a player controls an on – screen character and engages in one- on – one close combat with an opponent, will be played on the X – box 360. This challenge will see the winner of each walk away with a prestigious WCG National Champion title and a Samsung LCD monitor.
Mystic Galaxy, an associate company to I-hub will be hosting a similar competition on the Play station 3 platform where the winner will sail home with a cash prize. Apart from this, there will be a free for all call of Duty 4 battles, and other games.
