Barclays Bank unveils its first Contact Center in Kenya Alex Owiti

December 02, 2009 0 Comments

With the aggressiveness to provide effective, efficient and quality services to clients, banks have now resorted to establishing their own contact centers against the current wind of outsourcing services in a bid to maintain data confidentiality. Barclays bank of Kenya recently launched its multi-million shilling contact center  to serve its customer needs either via e-mail or calls 24/7 including public holidays. According to Adan Mohammed, Barclay’s Managing Director, the contact center is expected to provide high levels of customer care services. “The unveiling of the Barclay’s Contact Center is a major milestone for Barclays as well as the industry. With the launch of this center, our objective is to provide an enhanced level of service through excellent customer care and the effective handling and monitoring of account and product enquiries.” Mohammed said the Contact center will also act as a channel which will make the customers and the general public aware of the bank’s products and services. “The set up of an in-bound/out –bound contact is in line with our business strategy that seeks to bolster our services offering, support network expansion and enhance the customer experience, “said Mohammed. At the same time, Atul Bhatnagar, Barclay’s Chief Operating Officer, said the bank had purposefully opted for a self-owned contact center rather than outsource its services due to the data security which is very pertinent for the bank. Besides, with the existing national fibre optic backbone network and the landing of the submarine cables, Bhatnagar is optimistic that the banking sector will experience a revolution in service provision with the abundant bandwidth. “The landing of the submarine cable will revolutionize our way of doing business in the near future and as a bank we will soon launch internet banking for clients as means to ensure we are up to the global technological trends being adopted with the everyday evolving ICT industry.” Customers will be expected to call 0203900000 or e-mail:Barclays.kenya@barclays.com to get the services anytime of the day.
