The Linux family is famous for its open source software utilities that can be downloaded and used anywhere in the web. Alliance technologies, a software solutions company based in Kenya pushed its developers toward coming up with an ERP system deployed as an open source. At the ongoing East Africa ICT summit, Duggan Kimani, a senior developer with the company describes the way the AI ERP system works, its capability of both being a client platform independent and the benefits of having this system as one that brackets all the functionalities of all modules from various processes of a Business Process Organization.

Having the local understanding of the markets, the ERP system developed by these young brains is based on an open source  network environment are so that the small and medium sized organizations can acquire and take advantage of their capabilities zeroing in on how this system can add value to their organizations.

That Alliance Technologies are benefiting from this brilliant move to open source is not in doubt. When these systems are in the open space, a lot of contributions and review are received from the various users out there which give an opportunity for the developers to learn and improve their work. On the other hand, the numerous support given to the users who have employed these systems creates a relationship between them and the company which at the end of the day contributes a step of awareness in this branch of the ICT field.
