AccessKenya to sponsor Kenya Open Golf CIO East Africa Writer

AccessKenya has today unveiled a Ksh 4 million co-sponsorship package to the Kenya OpenGolf Tournament to take place at Muthaiga Golf Club. The listed ISP firm will be the tournament’s Official Technology Partner providing hi-tech technology touch to the event. The event kicks off with the Pro arm on March 30th and the official PGA tour running from March 31st to April 3rd. “By way of partnering with the organizers of this leading golfing tournament, we are delighted to play a significant technological role that will guarantee real time communication and continuous updates of the goings on at the tournament with the rest of the world. We will provide a high speed internet enabled media centre, players’ cyber café, internet to the PGA office, score recorders’ office, event management office and WIFI ‘hotspots’. And as is our custom, we look forward to providing reliable high speed internet and IT service to the players, spectators, media and stakeholders involved”, assures AccessKenya Group Communications Manager, Nancy Imunde.As the event’s first ever technology sponsors, AccessKenya will provide a co sponsorship fee of Ksh 1 million, and Kshs. 3 million towards installation of high speed Internet including technical support, computers, set up, fittings and furnishings in the media centre, players’ cyber café, organizers offices and WIFI ‘hotspots’.

AccessKenya will run a hi-tech media centre that will comprise 12 high speed internet enabled computers for use by local and international press to file their stories and images real time to their media houses. The center will also have printing services including the latest Internet enabled printing solutions and VOIP for local and international press covering the event.

The sponsorship package further includes running the player’s cyber cafe for which AKG will provide high speed internet enabled computers from wherethey can browse and communicate to their local and global fans; supply Internet connection to the PGA Tour office, score recorders’ office and the event management office. Guests to the tournament can access Internet from strategically placed WIFI ‘hotspots’ for the entire tournament duration.
