Human IPO, a network focused on providing a platform for interaction by entrepreneurs, will be launching their second competition. The competition will see participants come up with ideas for startup businesses within 48 hours.
The contest organized by the Human IPO in conjunction with the iHub will see13 teams participate in the competition. The teams will be expected to come up with a start-up business idea within 48 hours and pitch them to an audience whereupon they will be judged on the strength of their business concepts.
Last year the contest was held at the Strathmore University where a bunch of young and innovative minds congregated to come up with ideas and making businesses out of them. This time the event will be held at Nairobi’s innovation hub from Friday, August 12th, through to Sunday, August 14th.
IPO 48 is about candid interaction between mentors and entrepreneurs before and during the event.
The event will provide opportunities for mentorship for the startup founders. When a (potential) startup registers, they become part of the human IPO startup network which then exposes them to online mentorship.
According to CEO and founder of Human IPO Kresten Buch, a lot of good ideas go to waste as the concept developers do not have the right support system. The main challenge in the Kenyan entrepreneurial space is rising of equity capital.
Buch adds, “As human IPO we guarantee investment and mentorship opportunity for entrepreneurs. Startups lack the knowledge on how they can get capital to advance their projects. IPO 48 seeks to bridge that gap.”
The Human IPO online platform for interaction provides exposure to other businesses and a chance to accelerate startups by furthering conversations with professionals and investors in the same target industry.
An investment company has come on board infusing Euros 400,000towards the projects in the Kenyan online businesses. The winner of this year’s contest stands a chance of winning up to 3 million shillings that will go towards making their business idea a reality.
