Rwanda courts install electronic public information kiosks Ruth Kang'ong'oi
Rwanda members of the public will now access court register information easily. This comes after the installation of digital public information kiosks at the supreme court and the commercial high court on Wednesday this week.
The kiosks will contain online filing of cases, appeals, court calendars and judgments among others. The kiosks are normally composed of touch screens and printers that are connected to the internet to help service seekers check the information they need.
Installed by Rwanda Development (RDB), they will save time spent by physically going through court registers and will enable easy access to information by the public.
The spokesperson of the Judiciary, Charles Kariwabo told the press that people seeking judicial services would be able to access basic information online using the booths, halting the queues common at the court registrar’s office. He however indicated that the machines have not yet replaced the court registers, but will come in handy in saving time and fastening the services.
This initiative will promote the use of Information and Communication Technology in public service delivery as part of the ongoing doing business reforms.
