RwandAir’s waited new Boeing 737-800s due for delivery in July and September this year will land in style. This comes after the National carrier selected leading in-flight entertainment specialist IFE Services to meet all of its on-board entertainment requirements. The agreement covers the provision of Hollywood and Classic movies, popular TV shows, audio channels and a CD library. The content will be shown on the airline’s Boeing 737-800 fleet running Panasonic’s eFX audio and visual on demand (AVOD) system.

The national carrier is expected to take delivery of its two Boeing 737 – 800 NG in July and September 2011 respectively. These aircraft will be the first on the African continent with the “Sky Interior” concept adopted from the Boeing 787 design.
This entertainment package will be available to RwandAir from June 2011 and will be refreshed every 3 months.  In a press statement, RwandAir CEO John Mirenge said, “For the very first time RwandAir will be purchasing two new brand aircraft; Boeing 737 – 800 which we are very proud will be fitted with the latest IFE technology from Panasonic. The prospect of partnering with IFE Service Limited on audio visual content is one that we find exiting and hope will bring a whole new on-board experience for our customer.”
“We’ve been supplying original, cost-effective in-flight entertainment to airlines globally for many years,” said Andy McEwen, Managing Director of IFE Services. “Adding a growing, successful airline such as RwandAir to our client-base is great news and we look forward to helping them deliver a fantastic entertainment package to their passengers for many years to come.”
