Three weeks ago Oracle staged a product strategy review for its customers in Kenya. Yesterday, it was time for the company to empower the top IT leaders on how to deliver cost effective infrastructure that every enterprise demands today. CIOs, IT directors, and senior database administrators, got to learn on the benefits of using Oracle tools to consolidate their data centers.

A while ago, enterprises had to outsource different vendors for their server hardware, software and network handling. When they deployed new systems, lots of time was wasted by database administrators on assembling and getting them ready to work. Oracle presented Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud - an integrated cloud machine, hardware and software engineered together to provide a "cloud in a box".

This new invention from Oracle eliminates the need to have numerous vendors to sort out one procured server. The Exalogic machine acts as one point of contact, it comes assembled, debugged and ready for use. Everything from the firmware to the operating system and the database is preconfigured so that it can be used on the go.

The Extralogic machine is designed to help local enterprises to revolutionalise data center consolidation. Kenyan organizations and enterprises will cut out numerous efforts to optimize server performance and avoid subjecting new servers to various system failure tests before using them. The database administrators are able to pull out root causes of system problems, with the machine build in end to end diagnostic tools.

As organizations venture into having consolidated data centers, Exalogic machine provides them with an improved system reliability and scalability beyond even to the organization most mission-critical requirements. When it is compared to typical server operations, the machine gives a 2-3x improvement in performance for database operations.
