Huawei targets Kenya telcom operators with mobile broadband services Peter Nalika
Huawei has launched a mobile broadband (MBB) road show for telecommunication operators in Kenya. Through MBB, the company will provide an open end to end visibility broadband solution to telcos who will further cater for the growing demand of broadband networks among customers in Kenya.
The two day event kicked off Thursday afternoon at the Panari Center with business to business strategy presentations to customers on various tools and applications offered by MBB. The speakers generally highlighted the potential markets for LTE & UMTS because the Kenyan market is clogged with smartphones that require huge bandwidth to run various applications.
According to Huawei, LTE networks will be a perfect engine for future developments, for instance with MBB, it is easy to stream 3D video clips at 20 Mbps which cannot be streamed on normal 3G networks.
Huawei believe that mobile broadband (MBB) is playing key role to drive revenue growth for operators in Africa. However, due to increasing competition, operators are busy expanding capacity instead of enhancing MBB user experience, which will cause a rapid decline in operator profits.
Huawei SMART MBB is an end-to-end (E2E) ALL-IP solution intended to increase network capacity and improve network efficiency. With Huawei SMART MBB, operators are expected to have smarter, more precise and effective ways of optimizing hotspots and overall throughput, and thus be able to guarantee a satisfactory user experience, which will save lots of total cost of ownership (TCO) for operators.
“For years, Kenya and Africa in general were faced with bandwidth challenges. The situation improved with the landing of submarine cables. Huawei MBB solution is E2E All-IP solution seeks to further provide more bandwidth, more frequency efficiency, more innovative applications, and smarter network management,” says Herman He, CEO Huawei in Kenya. “In the future, due to MBB’s easy and fast roll-out, every subscriber will be able to create, access, and share information and engage in social and gaming activities in a completely mobile networked world through any terminal, at any time, from any location and at an affordable cost,” he adds.
