Ask any gadget enthusiast which one they think is the best and they are most likely going to mention an Apple product (iPhone, iPad, etc). But there is one company that is swiftly establishing itself as the king of smart phones: Samsung. Samsung stormed the Kenyan market with cheaper options for full-touch mobile phones like the Genoa and the Corby and these models have captured the imagination of many Kenyan mobile phone enthusiasts. But they have been doing bigger things. The Samsung I9000 Galaxy S, announced in March 2010 and later released in June is a monster of a phone. It comes packed with a 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird CPU (one of the fastest processors available for mobile phones) and 512MB of RAM making it super fast. The phone boasts a 4-inch 16M-colour Super AMOLED touchscreen of WVGA resolution that absolutely puts to shame any other type of screen that you have worked with before. Its indoor clarity is unrivalled and the outdoors does nothing to dampen its charm. It can become cumbersome to use a mobile device in the sunlight but this kind of screen reduces reflection by 80 per cent and still manages to save you 20 per cent on power consumption - screen perfection!
