Govt updates Private Sector on ICT sector, Malili Dennis Mbuvi
The Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) recently held a breakfast meeting at the Serena Hotel, whose agenda was to get updates on the current trends in the ICT sector in the country. The guests included the Minister for Information and Communications, Samuel Pohishio and his Permanent Secretary, at the Bitange Ndemo, who made a presentation on the upcoming ICT Park at Malili. Also Present were acting chairman KEPSA, Walter Ookok, Evelyn Rono who is the governor of the KEPSA ICT sector Board, directors of KEPSA and other stakeholders. Pogishio said that the government was putting an emphasis on placing the country as an ICT Hub with the President and other key government officials adopting and supporting ICT as a key driver of growth in the government. Moreover, the government was actively pursuing Public Private Partnerships (PPP) especially towards the achievement of Vision 2030. “We have witnessed the landing of three lucrative fibre optic cable projects, the last of which landed in Mombasa early this year, “ said Pogishio as he pointed out at the progress that the government had put in development and roll out of ICT infrastructure. Various opportunities had arisen from these initiatives.
